Edmonton Oilers Keep Adam Erne Around
The Edmonton Oilers are keeping winger Adam Erne around, as they have signed him to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, Erne will carry a $775,000 cap hit.
Erne signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Oilers before the start of training camp. Clearly, the gritty winger impressed, as he will now be a part of their forward depth for the 2023-24 season.
Erne spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he had eight goals, 18 points, and 160 hits. Overall, he provided some production with plenty of physicality while having a bottom-six role. As a result, he should have zero trouble fitting in when injuries occur with the Oilers.
In 355 career NHL games over seven seasons split between the Tampa Bay Lightning, Erne has 40 goals and 89 points. We will need to wait and see how well he improves upon these career stats as an Oiler from here.
