Insider: Teams Now Looking Into Flyers Morgan Frost's Availability

Morgan Frost was benched Thursday night for the fifth straight game by Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella, and the chatter around the league about the availability of the former first-round pick has picked up considerably. NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman:

I think at the beginning the Flyers were telling the kid, 'patience, patience, patience.' (But) man it's tough to be patient (when you've been a healthy scratch five straight games)... To see this, you can understand it for a game or two, but not for five in a row.

I do think teams have started kicking around on this, saying 'ok, what's going on here?' ... But as of (now), there's nothing really enticing for them.

If the benchings continue, there's no doubt, as Friedman says, "he's going to want a change of scenery."

Flyers beat writer Charlie O'Connor says that Torts has never seemed like a big fan of Frost. "Tortorella's praise of Frost - even when he was playing his best - came off as grudging ... he didn't seem like he was ever fully sold on Frost."

What makes this even more confusing is that this comes on the heels of Frost's best season, with a career-high 19 goals. He actually led the Flyers with 40 points over the last 55 games.

So far this year, zero points, two games, and five scratches. Certainly sounds like a trade could be in the offing.
