Interest In Bruins' Grzelcyk Picking Up Around The NHL

The Boston Bruins have been getting some trade interest from around the NHL for their defenseman Matt Grzelcyk. Rumors have been surrounding him since last season, but with his cap hit, expiring contract, and the minimal money the Bruins have to spend, thinking about moving him does make some sense.

Boston Hockey Now's Jimmy Murphy noted that the trade interest comes because there have been some strong training camps by a few of the Bruins' prospects, including Mason Lohrei.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been mentioned as a team that should be showing a lot of interest due to the cap space they have and the lack of NHL talent on their blueline. Murphy states that "Grzelcyk is better than any left-shot D they have now, and they have cap space. He could be great on their power play."

I don't think anyone is counting on the Bruins to have a repeat of 2022-23 or to get near that mark. But last season they were also counted out at the start of the season with three of their key players on the injured reserve. A trade could come before the NHL season starts, a bit into the season if the prospects who have impressed in preseason are doing well in the AHL, or not at all. This we will have to wait and see.
