Islanders Lose Ross Johnston Through Waivers

The Anaheim Ducks have added some toughness to their group, claiming enforcer Ross Johnston off of waivers from the New York Islanders.

Johnston failed to make the Islanders' opening night roster. With the Islanders having their classic fourth line of Casey Cizikas, Matt Martin, and Cal Clutterbuck all back for this season, Johnston's waiver placement was not surprising. However, he has now found a new home with the Ducks, and he should have a spot on their fourth line.

Adding toughness was something that the Ducks were looking for this summer. They notably signed Zack Kassian to a PTO, but he did not earn a contract. However, they now have added some much-needed grit with this Johnston addition.

Johnston will now a much-needed fresh start and a better chance of receiving consistent minutes. We will need to wait and see how much of an impact he makes with the Ducks from here. He will be a good players to have around to protect their young players.
