Kraken Need Major Shakeup After Start To 2023-24 Season

The Seattle Kraken are one of the two remaining teams in the NHL this season without a win, and they have played four games. This team made the playoffs last season and knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champions. While it might have been too early for them and they are reverting back to where they likely should have been in years two and three of existence, they lost key parts of their team.

When I say key parts, I mean that the Kraken had amazing depth scoring last season and that was altered due to players needing new contracts and trying to find different opportunities. While they don't seem like huge losses, Daniel Sprong and Ryan Donato combined for 35 goals and 73 points in 137 games from mainly the fourth line. That is a massive amount of production from a fourth line behind three others that produced even more.

This season it hasn't only been the lack of depth scoring. The team has scored just three goals in four games, one coming from the first, one from the second, and one from the fourth line. It's time to alter the lines at the very least. Tye Kartye scored three goals and five points in 10 games in the playoffs, so he could easily fit in somewhere higher in the lineup. Someone like Kailer Yamamoto, though not a top candidate to play in the top-six on a deep team like the Kraken, has the ability to. Some teams have already shuffled lines if they haven't been working. I think it's time for a little bit of panic in Seattle and cause for change.
