Minnesota Wild to Start Season Without Jared Spurgeon

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon is going to miss a few weeks of action.

Spurgeon left the Wild's last preseason game early due to injury. Following the game, Wild head coach Dean Evason told reporters said this when asked about Spurgeon's injury: “It’s not positive, but we’ll get a better evaluation tomorrow.”

With Spurgeon expected to miss the first few weeks of the season, it is certainly not good news for the Wild. He is one of their best defenseman and is of course their biggest leader. However, the Wild will now need to adjust without him.

In 79 games last season for the Wild, Spurgeon had 11 goals, 34 points, and a plus-32 rating.

Here's to hoping that Spurgeon has a speedy recovery from here.
