New York Islanders: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is finally here, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this edition of the series, let's look at the New York Islanders.

Best Addition: Julien Gauthier

Picking the best addition for the Islanders is a little challenging, as they made no big addition and only added depth guys. However, if forced to choose, Julien Gauthier is likely the best pick. He is currently one of the Islanders' extra forwards and should see reps in their bottom six at times this season.

Worst Subtraction: Zach Parise

Zach Parise is the most notable subtraction from the Islanders' roster this season. The longtime NHL winger had a solid season for New York last season, posting 21 goals and 34 points in 82 games. Although his best days are behind him, he's still a decent third-line forward who can score.
