New York Rangers: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is finally here, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest edition of the series, let’s focus on the New York Rangers.

Best Addition: Blake Wheeler

The Rangers added some decent depth pieces like Nick Bonino and Erik Gustafsson this offseason, but Blake Wheeler is easily their top addition. He gives them another solid top-six forward who still produces at a solid pace this late into his career. With that, they got him at a bargain of a price, which makes this signing even better.

Worst Subtraction: Patrick Kane

While Patrick Kane is still a free agent, the general thought is that he won’t be returning to the Rangers. They do not have cap space and have a full forward group. Down season or not, he’s a player who the Rangers could miss. This is especially so if he heats back up this season and returns to his elite form.
