Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports first reported this unexpected development, indicating that the Sabres initiated contact with the Ducks regarding the star forward.

This revelation has left the NHL community intrigued and somewhat perplexed, given the apparent stalemate in contract negotiations between Zegras and the Ducks.
