Panthers Lose John Ludvig Through Waivers
The Pittsburgh Penguins have added to their defensive depth before the start of the 2023-24 season, claiming John Ludvig off of waivers from the Florida Panthers.
Out of all the players placed on yesterday's (Oct. 8) waiver wire, Ludvig is probably not the first many believed would be claimed. This is because he has yet to play in an NHL game and is not necessarily known for his offensive contributions at the American Hockey League (AHL) level. However, he has now found a home with the Pens.
When noting that Ludvig is only 23 years old, he certainly has the potential to improve as he continues to gain more experience. Therefore, perhaps the Penguins see him as a player who can improve. He also plays a heavy game, so that also is likely a reason why Pittsburgh was drawn to him.
Alas, we will need to wait and see how the Penguins utilize Ludvig from here.
