Philadelphia Flyers: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason
The 2023-24 regular season is finally here, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.
The Philadelphia Flyers will be focused on in this edition of the series.
Best Addition: Garnet Hathaway
The Flyers got an old-fashioned Flyer in Garnet Hathaway this offseason. He will provide their fourth line with plenty of grit and toughness. These elements of his game will allow him to be a good protector for their young players. With that, he should add some offense to their bottom six in the process.
Worst Subtraction: Ivan Provorov
Kevin Hayes is a notable loss for the Flyers, but Ivan Provorov is an even bigger one. Although a change of scenery is needed, Provorov is a strong top-four defenseman when playing at his best. However, with the Flyers rebuilding, flipping him for a nice return was the right call for them.
