Sam Gagner Lands Contract With Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Sam Gagner to a one-year, $775,000 contract.
It has been a long road for Gagner to land this third stint with the Oilers. He originally signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the team during the offseason but, unfortunately, was unable to play during the preseason due to injury. He then inked an AHL deal with the Bakersfield Condors, where had one goal and five points in three games. This was good enough for him to land a deal with the Oilers, and now he gives them another option for their bottom six.
Gagner spent last season with the Winnipeg Jets, where he had eight goals and 14 points in 48 games. Now, he will be looking to have a bounce-back season with the team that he started his NHL career with.
Overall, with the Oilers having such a tough start to the season, bringing in another player like Gagner makes sense. Let's see how much of an impact he makes for them from here.
