Top Trade Candidates For The St. Louis Blues In 2023-24

The St. Louis Blues dropped pretty hard last season and sold a number of players before the trade deadline. It was very successful in that regard because the team moved out almost all of their UFAs and got a lot of good assets. This season the Blues are once again trying to be more competitive, but they may end up selling some more assets. Here are the top trade candidates for the Blues in 2023-24.

Oskar Sundqvist

The Blues dealt Oskar Sundqvist in 2021-22, but the Detroit Red Wings traded him at the deadline last season. He is the type of player that can add a certain type of game for playoff hockey on a contender for cheap. That could very well happen again this season if the Blues aren't in a playoff spot. There are a number of young guys who can fill roster spots on the team. Training camp is competitive this season up front with the prospects.

Jakub Vrana

Jakub Vrana was a nice pickup last season for the Blues from the Red Wings. He provided a good amount of offense for a team that just traded a good deal of productive forwards. He has the scoring ability, but has gone through tough times over the past couple of years with injuries and other stuff. He is a UFA at the end of the season and his cap hit on the Blues is currently only $2.625 million AAV. He scored 10 goals and 14 points in 20 games to end the season on the Blues, so he could very well pick up where he left off and produce.

Calle Rosen

Surprisingly enough, Calle Rosen could be a sneaky trade candidate for the Blues this season if they are selling once again at the trade deadline. He should make the team as a third pairing defenseman, but has shown a strong ability to execute offensively from a very limited role. He only has a cap hit of $762,500 AAV and is a UFA at the end of the season. The team has lots of defensemen available to get some time if he's dealt. The Blues can't currently decide on a number of them still in training camp.
