In Thursday night's game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Seattle Kraken, forward Artturi Lehkonen was taken to the hospital after a harrowing incident on the ice.
During the second period, Lehkonen endured a frightening head-first collision into the boards following a collision with Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak, a towering figure at 6-foot-7 and 257 pounds.

The force of the impact left Lehkonen in need of immediate assistance from trainers as he was carefully helped off the ice.
While the initial moments were filled with concern, there was a collective sigh of relief when the Avalanche later reported that Lehkonen was "alert, responsive, and has full movement."
