Blue Jackets Rumors: Patrik Laine Becoming Trade Candidate

The 2023-24 season has been a trainwreck for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and that has especially been the case for Patrik Laine. The star winger has struggled mightily to produce and was recently scratched for their game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Clearly, things are not working out for him in Columbus right now, and he is starting to become a player to watch in the rumor mill because of it.

While Laine has struggled to start the season, there is no denying his talent. When playing at his best, he is a strong top-six forward who can put up plenty of goals and be a big difference-maker. Because of this, he would be a popular player on the trade market if officially made available. This is especially so if the Blue Jackets retained some of his salary.

If he continues to be in Pascal Vincent's dog house, don't be surprised if the Blue Jackets open the door to offers as the season continues. We will need to wait and see if he finishes the year as a Blue Jacket from here.
