Blue Jackets Send Down Kent Johnson, Call Up Forward
It has been a rough year for Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson so far, and it has hit a new low. The promising young forward has been sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL) to join the Cleveland Monsters. In response to the move, the Blue Jackets have called up Yegor Chinakhov.
Johnson has been in head coach Pascal Vincent's dog house this season and recently switched agents,
which raised eyebrows. Johnson has gotten into eight games of action this season with the Blue Jackets, posting two goals, one assist, and a minus-2 rating. Last season, he had 16 goals and 40 points as a rookie. Let's see how he does with the Monsters from here.
Chinakhov, on the other hand, got into 30 games last season with the Blue Jackets, where he had four goals and 13 points. The 2020 first-round pick will be looking to make a big impact for the Blue Jackets during this call-up and take a big step forward in his development in the process.
