Canadiens Rumors: Latest On Sam Montembeault's Future In Montreal

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Montreal Canadiens are working on signing goaltender Sam Montembeault to a contract extension.

It is not surprising to hear that the Habs are aiming to get Montembeault signed. He is eligible for unrestricted free agency this upcoming summer, and he has become a solid part of the Habs’ goaltending. Due to this, it would be big if the Canadiens could get him signed shortly.

Montembeault would continue to be a decent 1B for the Canadiens if signed, so it would make sense for them to keep him around. He is continuing to improve as he continues to gain more experience. With that, he is a player who is a good teammate.

We will now need to wait and see if the Canadiens end up signing Montembeault to an extension at some point during this season from here.
