Canucks Rumors: 3 Prime Trade Candidates Out of Vancouver

The Vancouver Canucks have made a couple of trades this season and expect to see some more action out of GM Patrik Allvin. The Canucks are looking to add a defenseman and now have some serious cap space to use thanks to moving Anthony Beauvillier to the Chicago Blackhawks in pure salary dump.

The Canucks are working the phones trying to add a blueliner and these three Canucks could be in play on the next deal:

Conor Garland

Two goals and seven points in 23 games is not good enough for a winger making $4.9 million. Garland is signed through the 2025-26 and does not have any trade protection. His name has been on the trade market before and there's little doubt the Canucks would like to make a move. The Columbus Blue Jackets have checked in and so have the Nashville Predators. It's become a matter of when and not 'if' Garland gets moved this season.

Andrei Kuzmenko

Recently scratched, Kuzmenko is in the coach's dog house in Vancouver. His work ethic has been questioned throughout his entire career and now it seems to have caught up to him. The 27-year-old Russian winger is signed through the 2024-25 season at $5.5 million and has trade protection that covers him from 12 teams of his choice. So far in 20 games this season, Kuzmenko has recorded just three goals and 14 points. Last season the Canucks forward scored 39 goals and started his NHL career off with 74 points.

Arturs Silovs

The Latvia-born goaltender is playing well in the AHL and at 22 years old has a tremendous amount of upside. The Canucks have Thatcher Demko who isn't going anywhere and the newly acquired Casey DeSmith is a favorite of management and someone the organization knows very well. Silovs could fetch a big return if he's packaged with the likes of a Garland or Kuzmenko and could be in play on the trade market these next few weeks. He appeared in five NHL games last season, posting a 2.75 GAA and .908 Sv.%.
