Chicago Blackhawks & Vancouver Canucks Complete Trade
The Chicago Blackhawks have made an addition to their roster, acquiring forward Anthony Beauvillier from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
The Canucks have been looking to free up cap space, and they have done just that by moving on from Beauvillier. While the return is certainly not much to be cheerful about, this move opens the door for them to make additions elsewhere, as they now have $4.15 million of added cap space. They are not retaining any of his salary.
The Blackhawks, on the other hand, have essentially replaced Corey Perry with Beauvillier. The 26-year-old forward will likely see good minutes with Chicago and be used on their power play.
If Beauvillier performs well with the Blackhawks, he also could raise his trade value and be a solid trade piece for the club at the deadline. Thus, there is really no harm in Chicago making this move.
