Devils Rumors: Chris Tanev On Team's Radar
With the Calgary Flames being open for business, Chris Tanev has been generating interest. Now, it appears that a new team has entered the mix, as New Jersey Hockey Now's James Nichols has reported that the New Jersey Devils have expressed interest in the veteran d-man.
The Devils have already been connected to fellow Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov, so it is apparent that their goal right now is to better their blue line. Bringing in a player like Tanev would do just that, as he is an effective defensive defenseman who can easily handle top-four minutes and penalty-kill time.
Tanev has been a hot commodity on the trade market, so the Devils certainly have competition for his services. Two other clubs who have been linked to him are the Toronto Maple Leafs and his former team, the Vancouver Canucks.
It will be intriguing to see if the Devils' interest in Tanev leads to them bringing in the right-shot defenseman from here.
