Emotional GM Opens Up On "Very Disturbing" Corey Perry Situation

A very emotional and shaken Chicago Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson faced the media Tuesday afternoon to discuss the troubling situation that led to the team waiving and terminating the contract of veteran Corey Perry. He said that the last 24 hours of rampant speculation have been "very disturbing."

Over the last 24 hours, what's gone on has been very disturbing. I feel like I'm wearing it; I'm carrying that. It's tough to see.

In particular, Davidson, in a thinly-veiled reference to a salacious rumor that had been circulating on social media, said that the incident doesn't involve any other player on the team "or their families," and called the rumors "frankly, disgusting."

Davidson insisted that the other players on the team don't know the details of what went down. He called Perry's conduct violations "a workplace matter" and something "internal" to the team, so he can't divulge any more information.

He wore his emotions on his sleeve for much of the 10-minute media session, and said "It's obviously been very tough. Yeah, it's been a tough couple days."

Davidson said the team was notified of an "incident" that led to them immediately removing Perry from the team last week. They then began an investigation which resulted in today's severe actions.
