Mangiapane was handed a match penalty for Cross-checking during the game, so it is not surprising to hear that NHL Player Safety has handed him a suspension. While this was not the heaviest of cross-checks, he drove McCann's head into the ice, so that played a major role in the suspension.
This is the first time in Mangiapane's NHL career that he has received a suspension. Thankfully for his case, he will only miss one game instead of multiple because of it.
Mangiapane has had a solid start to the season for the Flames, as he has four goals to go along with seven points in 11 games played.
Do you feel a one-game suspension for Mangiapane was fair? Should he not have been suspended or been handed more games? Let your thoughts be known in the comments.
