Flames Looking To Add Specific Player To Help Huberdeau

The big story out of Calgary for the Flames is not necessarily trading away players after a bad start, but trying to find the right players to play with Jonathan Huberdeau. He is the player locked in the longest and has the skill to be dominant, it just hasn't clicked in Calgary under two coaches now.

While it becomes more and more likely Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin are moved and the team tries to get a new look to hopefully result in better results, they also must bring in talent since rebuilding with some of the players the team has just won't work out great.

Huberdeau has been tried with a number of players over the past season and a bit due to the ineffective play by him and him just looking uncomfortable. He was sat for the entire third period of the team's last game against the Nashville Predators when the Flames came back and won. He said, "you've got to look in the mirror, I gotta be a better player."

Huberdeau's contract, especially with how he's been playing, is seemingly unmovable. This is why it makes the most sense for the Flames to try and surround him with players that will help him get back to a higher level rather than eat the loss and give up. Elliotte Friedman reported that the Flames have begun to see what's out there. I believe that more trades are going to happen throughout this season and it will be a trend. Waiting until the trade deadline is too late for a lot of teams, including the Flames this season.
