Flames' Zadorov Linked To Maple Leafs By Insider Again
With the Toronto Maple Leafs' struggles on the back-end and the Calgary Flames struggling a lot this season, these two teams appear to be connected once again. Former general manager of the Flames, Brad Treliving, is now the GM in Toronto, so there is always that inclination to bring in familiar faces when people in that position change teams.
Elliotte Friedman mentioned the Maple Leafs and potential defensemen targets by saying, "I think they are looking for D...you know the one I can see is (Nikita) Zadorov, and I'll bet you this...if they can find a way to get Zadorov and (Chris) Tanev, I bet you they would do it." This is the second time that Friedman has brought up Zadorov's name in connection to the Maple Leafs, so there is something there.
The Maple Leafs need grittiness and while Ryan Reaves is very limited in ice time and impact on the game, Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi haven't brought the game that Toronto thought they would either. Zadorov seems like he's destined to be dealt to the Maple Leafs with the connection there and since he's on an expiring contract.
