Flyers Get Bad News On Felix Sandstrom

Just a few days after being sent down to the AHL for some playing time and  "conditioning", goaltender Felix Sandstrom's "condition" has taken a turn for the worse, suffering an upper-body injury.

Sandstrom has now been recalled by the Flyers, and placed on injured reserve. Before being sent down to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on October 31st, Sandstrom hadn't played a game in over a month, an exhibition encounter with Philly back on Sept. 27th.

Last season as a backup with the Flyers, the 26-year-old netminder played 20 games between the pipes, registering a 3-12-3 record with a 3.72 goals-against average and an .880 save percentage. He fared much better for the Phantoms, however, posting a 2.39 GAA and .911 SV% in seven starts there. He recorded similarly impressive numbers at Lehigh Valley the season before as well.

He began this season in a three-goalie system with the Flyers, but never made an appearance. He now joins starter Carter Hart in IR, and the team will go with the tandem of Calvin Petersen and Samuel Ersson in net for the time being.
