Insider Names 2 More Teams in Patrick Kane Sweepstakes

Earlier today, we shared a story that Pierre LeBrun reported that the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, and Buffalo Sabres are three teams involved in the Patrick Kane sweepstakes. Fellow insider Chris Johnston has now listed those three clubs as well but also added that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are in the mix.

Johnston noted that the Maple Leafs are not as big of contenders to land Kane, but he also said that "the possibility cannot be ruled entirely." This is because Kane rehabbed in the Toronto area in recent months. With that, he brought up that Kane was a player who inspired Auston Matthews.

As for the Panthers, they were linked to Kane during the offseason, but his surgery restricted that possibility from occurring. It is clear that the Cats could use another top-six forward on their roster, and Johnston brought up how GM Bill Zito have a history together.

We will need to wait and see if either of these teams land Kane from here.
