Islanders Suffer Big Loss Amidst Winning Streak With Pelech Injury

The New York Islanders recently ended a very tough stretch in which they lost seven games in a row, but broke it by winning three straight. In the midst of this winning streak, they have now lost one of their best defensemen, Adam Pelech, to injury as he has landed on the LTIR.

The Islanders have already not looked like themselves this season in the defensive zone as they allowed four or more goals against in eight consecutive games that ended two games ago in their win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Losing Pelech alters the defensive lines and takes a very strong defensive player out for a while. Just when the Islanders started to turn things around, another obstacle was thrown at them.

Samuel Bolduc will have to step up in a big way and there is a chance that he enters into the top-four so that Sebastian Aho and Scott Mayfield stick together on the third pairing.
