Lightning Getting Vasilevskiy Back Very Soon

The Tampa Bay Lightning appear to have held off long enough to enable Andrei Vasilevskiy to recover and return to action. Kevin Weekes reported that the Lightning's goaltender would be back between the pipes within a week or so barring anything unforeseen.

The Lightning have gone 9-6-4 without their starter to begin the season so far. Despite the strong play from inexperienced Jonas Johansson, Vasilevskiy will make a huge difference in their season. The Lightning went to three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals with him backstopping them.

According to Hockey Reference, he led the league in wins for five consecutive seasons before the 2022-23 season and has 263 wins, a career .919 SV%, and 32 shutouts. Since becoming the starter seven seasons ago, he has never finished lower than sixth place in Vezina Trophy voting.

The Lightning have the fifth-most goals against in the NHL right now and that will be cleaned up very soon. Expect them to climb up the standings further and go on a run for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
