New York Islanders Claim Mike Reilly Off Waivers

The New York Islanders have claimed defenseman Mike Reilly off of waivers from the Florida Panthers.

Seeing the Islanders claim a left-shot defenseman is not surprising, as they recently placed Adam Pelech on long-term injured reserve. While Reilly will not make the same impact defensively as Pelech, he will give them more depth as they try to get by this tough time.

Reilly was bought out by the Boston Bruins this past offseason and later joined the Panthers on a one-year deal. The 30-year-old only made two appearances for Florida this season, posting zero points a minus-2 rating.

This move to the Islanders should give Reilly more chances to play. We will need to wait and see how much of an impact he can make for the club from here.
