NHL Rumors: Oilers & Coyotes Talking Trade?

Recent NHL trade talks have forged a connection between the Edmonton Oilers and the Arizona Coyotes, with goaltender Jack Campbell and defenseman Matt Dumba taking center stage in the rumored exchange, according to Rob Ellis of NHL Trade Rumor.com.

The Oilers, focused on the present, have been contemplating a trade that would see them send Jack Campbell to Arizona along with a high draft pick, and a couple prospects in return for Matt Dumba.

This prospective deal carries significant implications for both teams.

For the Oilers, acquiring Matt Dumba represents a strategic move to shore up their defensive lineup, complementing their potent offense, which has yet to look that potent this season.

So far this season, the 29-year-old Dumba has scored two goal and four total points across 18 games played, along with a -9 plus/minus rating.

On the other hand, Jack Campbell's struggles have been well documented, and has has not fared any better in the AHL, since being sent down.

The potential departure of Campbell's $5 million annual contract over the next four years would provide much-needed salary cap relief, affording them flexibility to address other roster needs.

However, parting with Campbell and promising prospects signifies a considerable cost.

On the other side, the Coyotes would see this trade as an opportunity to accumulate valuable future assets.

In exchange for Dumba, they would potentially secure a high-round pick and two promising prospects, aligning with their long-term vision of building a competitive team in the years ahead. Photo Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
