Oilers Connor McDavid 'Didn't See' Coaching Change Coming

There seems to be one hell of a disconnect in Edmonton as the Oilers are in shambles. GM Ken Holland is saying one thing at a press conference, meanwhile CEO Jeff Jackson is saying the complete opposite. What about Connor McDavid, you ask? Well it seems like he wasn't too pleased with the recent news of Jay Woodcroft being fired.

McDavid admitted he was caught off guard and had this to say to the media on Monday:

First and foremost, obviously surprised. Didn't see it coming. I loved playing for 'Woody,' I loved playing for 'Mans.' Two guys I think are unbelievable coaches and I really think they'll be in the league very, very soon. I woke up to a text, like probably a lot of you guys did as well. I know the narrative out there obviously, but it couldn't be farther from the truth. He never lost the room, I didn't think. Our play hasn't been good enough. I'm first on the list there. Our play needs to be better, it's the reason two good guys lost their job

The Oilers have started the season 3-9-1 and sit just two points up on the San Jose Sharks, who are dead last in the entire NHL.

McDavid is on pace for his worst season of his career and the Oilers can't get a save. Lots going on in Edmonton but if you think McDavid had something to do with his old junior coach now being his NHL coach, you have another thing coming.
