Oilers Part Ways With Head Coach Jay Woodcroft

The Edmonton Oilers are making a change behind the bench, as the club is firing head coach Jay Woodcroft, per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

While Woodcroft has been on the hot seat because of the Oilers' horrendous start to the season, some wondered if their strong win against the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 11 would give him some time for redemption. Yet, the Oilers felt that now was the time to move on.

The Oilers currently have a 3-9-1 record in their first 13 games. This is truly disastrous, as they entered the season viewed as one of the top teams in the sport. However, they are currently among the worst in the league, and this has led to Woodcroft's firing.

We here at NHL Trade Rumors will keep you posted when the Oilers announce who will be taking over for Woodcroft. Stay tuned.
