Patrick Kane Signs New Deal, Returns to Eastern Conference

The Patrick Kane sweepstakes are over as the future hall-of-famer has signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings for one season at $2.75 million against the cap.

Kane has been training in southern Ontario these past few months, recovering from hip surgery and had been interviewing teams these past couple of weeks to create a short list for his services. It sounds like the Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs made the short list but in the end, Kane reunites with former Blackhawks teammate, Alex DeBrincat.

Kane appeared in 19 games down the stretch for the New York Rangers, recording 12 points to go along with another six points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games. There was a lot of talk about how slow he was skating and how disengaged he was at times, so there's certainly going to be quite the spot light in Motown to see how well Kane is moving on the ice.

The 35-year-old forward has 1180 NHL games under his belt, recording 451 goals and 1237 points. His postseason numbers are silly, with 138 points in 143 total Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Wings sit 11-6-3 on the season and have surprised many, sitting third in the Atlantic division heading into Tuesday's action. Adding Kane is going to give their top-six a huge boost and if the Wings can get some consistent goaltending, look out!
