Predators Rumors: Surprising Winger Starting To Get Trade Interest

The Nashville Predators were bound to struggle this season after trading or moving a number of key veterans from their team. This should have been seen as a development year for a lot of young players, but not a rebuild for the team.

That being said, they will likely sell at the trade deadline this season once again. While there are a lot of younger players on the team, there are some UFAs that other teams may be interested in and the Predators would move. There won't be any major splashes like Mattias Ekholm or Tanner Jeannot last season, but someone that has started the season well and would be a very cheap addition as a depth player is Kiefer Sherwood.

At this moment, Sherwood is on the second line. The 28-year-old is playing for his third NHL team, and since joining the Predators, has been more impressive than anywhere else in his career. This season the winger already has two goals and two assists in nine games and has a cap hit of $775,000. While he might be playing a larger role in Nashville, on a contender, he would be a fourth line player delivering hits and being able to score on occasion. He is getting the opportunity to succeed right now, but with the talent coming up through the system and already on the team, I can't see Sherwood holding down a spot past this season. The best option is to trade him while he has some value.
