Red Wings Rumors: James Reimer Named As Trade Candidate
The Athletic's latest trade board is out, and Detroit Red Wings goaltender James Reimer is listed as a player who could be on the move this season.
New, for @TheAthletic: With Thanksgiving behind us and a Vancouver/Chicago deal made last night, the NHL's trading period is here. It's early, but never too early to start sizing up the market.

The Red Wings currently have three NHL-caliber goalies in Reimer, Ville Husso, and Alex Lyon. Because of this, it is fair to say that they have a surplus of netminders, and trading Reimer out of the three would make the most sense. He is the only one on an expiring deal, and he could get them a decent return if his solid play this season continues.
In six appearances this campaign with the Red Wings, the veteran netminder has a 2-2-2 record but also a solid 2.30 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Overall, he has been pretty strong for the Red Wings, so they also could elect to keep three goalies.
We will now need to wait and see what the Red Wings decide to do with Reimer from here.
