Sabres' Zach Benson Facing Crucial Next 3 Games

While speaking with reporters, Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato said that the club is still undecided about whether or not they will keep rookie Zach Benson on the NHL roster past his nine-game trial or send him back to junior.

Benson is close to returning for the Sabres from his lower-body injury, so a decision will be made soon. The 18-year-old has played in six games this season, where he has two assists to go along with a minus-1 rating. Overall, he has produced some offense, but likely not enough for Granato to make a definite decision about this season yet.

As a result, Benson's next three games with the Sabres once he is healthy are very important. It could be the difference of him sticking with the team for the season or being sent back to junior. We will now need to wait and see how much of an impact he can make once he is good to go again from here.
