Vancouver Canucks GM Confirms Another Trade is Coming

The Vancouver Canucks have recently cleared some cap space by moving Anthony Beauvillier to the Chicago Blackhawks and it turns out GM Patrik Allvin is not finished. Allvin has been rather candid with his intentions as he's made it clear the Canucks are looking to make another trade and this time around, acquire a defenseman in the process.

Allvin spoke with Sportsnet and had this to say about his intentions moving forward:

Do I think we need another defenseman?. I think we can get help on the back end, yes. There's a lot of pieces out there. But again, I think we owe it to the players internally here to put them in that position to succeed. We all know that we have some injuries, you know, on the back end and Pius Suter up top. We're looking at ways to see where we can strengthen our team.

The Canucks are off to a great start this season, led by Vezina candidate Thatcher Demko in net. Vancouver sits with a 15-7-1 record, good for second in the Pacific Division behind the Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights.

In regards to some potential trade targets, the likes of Noah Hanifin, Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov will all be of interest to Allvin and the Canucks, along with Sean Walker of the Philadelphia Flyers and Ilya Lyubushkin of the Anaheim Ducks.  Trading within a division always means a higher asking price so it will be interesting to watch just how much draft capital and future considerations Allvin and the Canucks are open to parting with.

One things for sure, the Canucks are a contender this season and will be buying before the trade deadline.
