Islanders Rumors: Oliver Wahlstrom Becoming Trade Candidate

According to Anthony LaRocco of The Fourth Period, there's a chance that Oliver Wahlstrom will be dealt during this season if the young forward does not take a step forward in his development.

Wahlstrom was the subject of trade rumors during the offseason, and now his name is picking up some chatter yet again. It ultimately makes sense, as the former first-round pick has had trouble taking that next step, and the Islanders have scratched him this season.

If officially made available, there is no question that Wahlstrom would generate a ton of attention on the trade market. He has the tools to become a top-six winger, and perhaps a change of scenery could allow him to do just that.

Time will tell what happens with Wahlstrom during this season, but he, without a doubt, a player to watch very closely. Some early potential landing spots for him include the San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens, and Boston Bruins.
