Boyd, 30, is a pending UFA. He has eight points in 16 GP this season.
After initially being placed on waivers to start the season, Boyd got called back up to the Coyotes and has been pretty solid for them since. In 16 games on the year, the 31-year-old center has two goals, eight points, and a plus-3 rating. He has also, however, been sidelined since Nov. 30, and now we have an update on his status. Unfortunately, the news is not good.
Boyd has been a strong part of the Coyotes’ forward group over the last few seasons. He has offered them great versatility, being able to play anywhere in their lineup. As a result, losing him for the rest of the season is certainly a notable hit.
