Canadiens Rumors: David Savard Trade Chatter Picking Up

The Montreal Canadiens are rebuilding and expected to be sellers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline because of it. Due to this, defenseman David Savard has been viewed as a potential trade candidate for much of this season. Now, trade chatter is picking up surrounding the veteran defenseman, as David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that interest in Savard's services should increase as we enter 2024.

Savard is a veteran defenseman on a rebuilding Habs team, so it would make sense for the Canadiens to move him. He has another year left on his contract, too, so the Habs could get a pretty strong return for him if they officially shop him.

Savard is a steady defensive defenseman who plays a heavy game, so, in other words, he is a player built for the postseason. Because of this, we will now need to wait and see if he ends up finding a new home before the trade deadline passes from here.
