Canadiens Rumors: Mike Matheson Becoming Trade Candidate

The Montreal Canadiens are having a decent start to the season, but it is important to remember that they are in the middle of the rebuild. Because of this, defenseman Mike Matheson has been picking up a lot of steam in the rumor mill as of late.

Matheson has emerged as the Habs’ number-one defenseman, so they may not be in a rush to move him. However, at the same time, they could elect to move the veteran defenseman while his trade value is at its highest if it means them landing a big return for him. Teams would certainly love to add him, especially because of his offensive contributions.

Matheson is just one of many defensemen who fans should be watching closely as we get closer to the trade deadline. There should be plenty of interest in him, as he has shown that he is a legitimate top-four defenseman since arriving in Montreal.

We will now need to wait and see what happens with Matheson this season. While the Canadiens do not need to move him, they certainly could do so if a team sends them a trade package that could help the future of their club.
