Canadiens Rumors: Top D-Man Could Be Moved by Montreal

NHL insider Chris Johnston released his latest Trade Targets board for The Athletic, and one notable name added to the list is Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson.

Matheson has had a strong season for the rebuilding Canadiens, and he could get a ton of interest if made available because of it. With that, if the Canadiens officially shopped him, they would get a big return for him, as he has handled top-pairing minutes for them excellently. 

Matheson would be an ideal target for playoff teams looking to add a bit more scoring to their blue line and in need of a power-play specialist. Because of this, there should be a ton of interest in him leading up to the deadline.

While there is no rush to move Matheson, as he is under contract past this season, the Habs could take advantage of his high trade value and get something done.
