Capitals Call Up 2 Top Prospects, Place Oshie On IR

The Washington Capitals have called up two of their prospects, as Ivan Miroshnichenko and Hendrix Lapierre are joining the NHL roster. With that, veteran winger T.J. Oshie has been placed on IR.

Miroshnichenko, 19, was selected by the Caps with the 20th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The skilled winger has appeared in 27 games this season with the Hershey Bears, where he has eight goals to go along with 15 points.

Lapierre, 21, has played in 11 games this season with the Caps, where he has a goal and two assists in 13 games played. The 2020 first-round pick has shown some promise at the NHL level, and he will be looking to earn himself a permanent NHL spot with this latest call-up.

Oshie has struggled significantly this season, posting just two goals and two assists in 21 games. This trip to the IR will now put his bounce-back push on pause.
