Hurricanes Rumors: Veteran Goalie Named As Trade Candidate
Last week, the Carolina Hurricanes made a notable move, placing goaltender Antti Raanta on waivers. While he has since cleared waivers, he is continuing to be a topic of discussion as a trade target, as NHL insider Chris Johnston listed the veteran goaltender on his latest NHL trade board for The Athletic.
It has been a brutal season for Raanta, and that ultimately led to his demotion to the AHL. However, when noting that he has been nothing but consistent over the last several seasons before this one, there certainly could be interest in him as a trade target.
Teams could be willing to take a shot on Raanta as a backup goaltender but especially when noting that his cap hit is affordable.
Some teams who could consider pursuing him include the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, and New Jersey Devils.
