It's the news the Toronto Maple Leafs have been waiting for. John Klingberg will be having season-ending hip surgery, and his time with the team is done.

Klingberg's $4.15 million salary will remain on LTIR, freeing money to go hunting for D-men in the trade market.
GM Brad Treliving said today, "I'll have a better idea as we finalize what is going to get done and ultimately once they do the procedure of how long rehab is going to be, but it's safe to say a five-to-six month range."
As noted, Klingberg's $4M salary will remain on LTIR, and now the Leafs are freed up with plenty of room under the cap to go make a deal for a defenseman or two that they're so desperate for.
Klingberg has had troubles with his hip in the past, and has had surgery before. He was obviously hampered by it this season, and struggled through 14 games with the Leafs, recording just 5 points and a minus-7.
