Nashville Predators' Talented Defenseman Likely On The Move This Season

The Nashville Predators have to already be thinking about selling at the deadline. I know it's early, but they just don't have the firepower to keep up with even the weak Western Conference. Juuse Saros isn't having the best start to a season and the Predators just aren't good enough yet if he isn't having a Vezina calibre season.

That being said, they do have a player that was listed on Daily Faceoff's top-20 trade targets, Alexandre Carrier. This is a reliable right-shot defenseman that is solid at both ends of the ice. He excels in the defensive end despite his size, but can chip in offensively as he put up 30 points in his rookie season and is only one point behind Tyson Barrie for second among Predators' defensemen in points.

Carrier is a rental and has a low cap hit for a top-four defender. Right-shot defensemen are always a hot commodity, but seeing what Nikita Zadorov just went for, I will assume Carrier gets a bit more. It's still up in the air whether the Predators are looking to re-sign him after the season. It may not make sense, but he's also in the prime of his career age-wise. If trading him as a rental will push them closer to contending, they have to pull the trigger at a good opportunity to do so.
