NHL Rumors: 3 Goalies Hot on the Trade Market
The NHL's trade season opens back up on December 28 and expect to see a number of trades in January. The goalie market is very hot at the moment across the league and there's a number of teams who are listening to offers on their starter.
Here's three goaltenders who are very likely to be dealt before March's deadline:
Marc-Andre Fleury, Minnesota Wild
Recently the Wild's new coach John Hynes decided to not play Fleury in potentially his last game in Pittsburgh and you can tell it stung. The sour taste won't be a great way to end his tenure in Minnesota so hopefully the Flower gets in to a few starts in January and gains some momentum. With the Wild on the cusp of making the playoffs there's going to be a number of contending teams who want to add some depth in their crease there isn't a better resume in the league to add to your team than Fleury's. This could be it for the future hall-of-famer so it would be great to see him given another shot at contributing to a Stanley Cup championship.
John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks
The trade rumors have continued throughout the past couple of seasons and recently have turned up in a major way. The Ducks are once again not bound for the playoffs and appear open to moving Gibson this season. They'll likely have to retain some of his remaining contract as he's owed $6.4 million through the 2026-27 season. Gibson's contract also includes a 10-team no-trade clause as he'll have some say in the matter. Here's the very latest on where Gibson could wind up:
John Gibson could draw significant interest from teams looking for goaltending.

Elvis Merzlikins, Columbus Blue Jackets
This will be the most complicated out of these three potential trades as the Blue Jackets have made it well known across the league they are open for business and that includes Merzlikins, who is signed for $5.4 million per season through 2026-27. He, like Gibson, holds a 10-team modified no-trade clause and so far this season has posted a .909 Sv.%. There was some talk about Edmonton, but that appears to have slowed down lately. Look for the Blue Jackets to be very active on the trade market ahead of March's deadline.
