NHL Rumors: 4 Teams Linked To Defenseman Tyson Barrie

Veteran defenseman Tyson Barrie has become a central figure in recent NHL trade rumors, with several teams reportedly expressing interest, and others who could show interest, in acquiring his services, according to Nashville Hockey Now's Michael Gallagher.

Among the notable suitors are the Edmonton Oilers, Barrie's former club, who are keen on bolstering their defensive lineup to provide crucial support for their goaltenders who have faced challenges this season.

Additionally, the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders have emerged as potential destinations for Barrie.

Both teams are actively seeking to inject more offensive firepower from their blue line, with the Devils grappling with the absence of Dougie Hamilton and the New York Islanders aiming to enhance their defensive production.

So far this season, the 32-year-old has scored zero goals and nine assists, along with a -5 plus/minus rating across 22 games played.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs, another former team of Barrie's, find themselves in a situation where they may consider a reunion with the experienced right-handed defenseman.

This consideration arises due to their injury-plagued defensive corps, with John Klingberg on long-term injured reserve.

However, concerns regarding past chemistry issues during Barrie's previous stint with the Leafs are still a factor to be weighed in their decision-making process. Photo Credit: Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports
