Hamilton was injured in the Devils win earlier in the week against the New York Islanders. So far in 20 games, he's put up an impressive 16 points, while logging over 21 minutes of ice time a night.
The Devils have some other injury troubles as well as forward Tomas Nosek is going to hit the IR as well after re-aggravating a foot injury. Nosek's already missed time for the same injury this season and he's also out indefinitely.
With the Devils having Hamilton and the suspended Brenda Smith unavailable, they turned to 2022 second overall pick Simon Nemec from the AHL. Nemec has been solid in the AHL, registering eight points in 13 games and at 19 years old is one of the youngest Devils d-men to ever play for the organization.
First game. First point. Simon wasted no time.

New Jersey sits 11-10-1 on the season and will look to keep things afloat while their best defenseman is on the side lines. As it sits right now the Devils are just two points out of a playoff stop and must keep pace in the Eastern Conference.
