Penguins Rumors: Star Forward Listed As Trade Candidate

The Athletic's Chris Johnston has released his latest trade board for The Athletic, and it has some new names on it. One notable name who he brought up is Pittsburgh Penguins star winger Jake Guentzel.

With the Penguins struggling mightily this season and Guentzel being a pending UFA, it makes sense that he is now starting to generate buzz as a trade candidate. The star winger is somebody who the Pens cannot afford to lose for nothing this summer, so it would make sense for them to shop him if he does not sign an extension by the trade deadline.

Guentzel would generate a plethora of interest from contenders if officially made available, as he is a first-line winger who also works nicely on the top power-play unit. Because of this, we will now need to keep a close eye on this situation.

It will be intriguing to see if the Pens move Guentzel before the deadline from here.
